Formby GC Clubhouse voted 12th most iconic in World Golf
The 18 Most Iconic Clubhouses in Golf in the world by Golf Magazine

The most iconic clubhouses are as recognizable as the courses they serve. The game's "statement" clubhouses set a tone while offering a sanctuary for post-round contemplations and celebrations. They're also as recognizable as the courses they serve. With nods to aesthetics, architecture and history, by Joe Passov.

Formby brings back its signature drink
Back around the period of the new clubhouse opening in 1901, one of the club's signature drinks was a pink gin and tonic. We are resurrecting this to commemorate 130 years of Formby Golf Club and after careful research, have sourced a gin to accompany our Fever Tree tonic that will make our Formby G&T not only unique but also unforgettable.

History
Back in 2011, Professor Cornelius Ampleforth fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he released his extraordinary Gin. Not content with this highly successful experiment, he proceeded to lock himself back inside his laboratory and set about on all manner of additional, exciting projects! The result was an entire range of original and reimagined spirits inspired by by-gone eras and modern technology alike! Whether it’s cold-compounding or distillation under vacuum, the madcap professor does whatever it takes to produce the finest libations and retain the freshness of the wonderful botanicals he uses.

Production Method
The Gin is produced in small batches using a traditional method called cold compounding, with botanicals such as juniper, coriander, clove, cinnamon, orange peel and cardamom being left to infuse in high quality pot-distilled grain spirit. The botanicals lend a tint to the final spirit as well as a wonderfully clean, fresh flavour and the finished product is packaged in a manner worthy of any Victorian apothecary; it's wrapped in brown paper and string, then wax-sealed by hand.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh and bold juniper leads the way with fragrant citrus and cardamom. Notes of rich grain spirit and cinnamon add to an enticing nose.

Palate: Juniper again leads, as it should in any gin, but there’s plenty more besides. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy whilst the cloves, coriander and cardamom offer depth.

Finish: Here the supporting botanicals really shine with lingering cardamom and orange peel on the tail.

Overall: A well put together gin, big but far from brash, Bathtub Gin can be enjoyed neat, in a G&T or makes a perfect cocktail ingredient - dry martini anyone?
