This week saw the Annual Formby Golf Club snooker finals evening.

A packed snooker room saw Chris Allmark win the King’s Trophy and also secure the highest break of the tournament with a magnificent 46 in the quarter final.

The Harold Withers Cup was won by ex Captains Alasdair Bowman and James Harrocks, well played gentlemen!

Great night, lots of wine and enjoyed by all!

Role: Starter and Marshal (Part Time)

We are looking for two friendly and engaging individuals, for part time roles as part of our impressive team here at Formby Golf Club.

The role will be 2-3 days a week plus holiday cover, with regular, but not exclusive shifts on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, 9.00am-2.30pm

Established in 1884, we are one of the most well-respected private members’ golf clubs in the UK, host to many major championships, and renowned as one of the World’s Great Links courses.

Under the guidance of the Club Receptionist and Golf Co-Ordinator, you will play a vital role in providing an outstanding service, in a warm and friendly environment, to ensure our members and guests have an exceptional experience. The role will help to enhance the customer journey from arrival through to completion of their round on the course.

Previous experience desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

Hourly pay at competitive rates above minimum wage.

Formby Golf Club is a championship links course, founded in 1884.
Host to numerous R&A and England Golf events including four amateur championships and recently two professional senior championships. Host to prestigious team events including the Arnold Palmer cup and Curtis cup.

Overview

• Full time, 40 hours per week plus overtime.
• Saturday and Sunday morning rota.
• Opportunity to further education and training.
• BIGGA subscription.
• Staff Uniform.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience.

• NVQ level 2 or working towards.
• Preferred PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates.
• Able to operate a wide range of machinery and equipment.
• Take pride in your work and have an eye for detail.
• Keen interest in golf.

The Junior Committee are pleased to announce that Dylan Caton has accepted the nomination to be Junior Captain for 2023.

Dylan (son of Member, Paul Caton) has played a key part in the junior section over several years now. As well as supporting the junior section, our younger juniors and playing in social and friendly events, he has represented the Club in events such as the Quadrangular trophy and SDGA summer league matches.

The Junior Committee would also like to thank the outgoing Junior Captain, Will Neave, for performing his Junior Captain duties in exemplary fashion over the past year.
